Amazon (AMZN) is close to signing off on producing it, claims Variety, as the company's Amazon Studios arm tries to keep up with Netflix, YouTube, and others in offering original Web programming. Amazon, of course, is also spending plenty on licensing content from third parties for Prime Instant Video. (Read the comments on this)
