You say you want to make use of big data but think it's impossible to find the talent you need to make it happen? You could always outsource the job to a third-party service provider. Hewlett-Packard's business process outsourcing (BPO) division, for instance, provides business analytics services designed to deliver data-driven insights to enterprises.

Finding talent is "definitely the biggest challenge right now," according to Arindam Dutta, general manager and director of HP's Asia Pacific and Japan BPO unit. "It's about finding the right talents, and finding them in abundance."

HP is far from alone in offering an outsourcing option. From SAS, IBM, and other software providers to Accenture, CapGemini, and just about every prominent systems integrator, you're likely to find a big data analytics outsourcing option. The question is, should you look at outsourcing as a long-term fix, or is it just something you do until you can develop skills internally?
