| | | Tom LaSusa | | | | As rumors bubble up that Apple is getting ready to unveil the iPhone 5S, I can't help but think "big deal." I'm almost positive that I've touched base on this issue before, but it just feels like Apple isn't doing anything new or amazing with the device. Now, before the fans get all in a tizzy, I have no beef with Apple: I happily do my workouts with my iPod, and the alarm on my iPhone 4 wakes me up every morning. That being said, hearing that the next incarnation will sport a speedier processor and updated camera just doesn't wow me enough to swap out devices. Apple's not the only one accused of innovation stagnation: Samsung's Galaxy 4 debuted a few weeks ago to a resounding shrug. Maybe it's us. Maybe we're expecting too much? I mean, what else is a smartphone supposed to do that it doesn't do already? What do you think? Are the device makers losing their edge? Are our expectations too high for the products? April Fool's Day -- is just around the corner, and if there's one company that loves to embrace the "goofy side" of things, it's Google.
