VMware to Acquire Storage Software Company Virsto

VMware said today that it reached a deal to acquire Virsto, a maker of software that specializes in optimizing storage in virtual and cloud computing environments. Financial terms were not disclosed. Virsto was founded in 2007, and had raised about $24 million in venture capital funding from August Capital, Canaan Partners, InterWest Partners, Southern Cross Venture Partners and Correlation Ventures. VMware shares fell more than 2 percent during the day, to $77.04 per share. read more »

Web hosting and domain giant Go Daddy announced Monday that it has acquired M.Dot, a startup whose self-serve app allows users to build their own mobile websites directly from the application. This is Go Daddy's first acquisition under former Yahoo chief product officer Blake Irving, who left Yahoo to become Go Daddy CEO in December. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. read more »
