GOOG: YouTube (GOOG) is about to introduce its...

1:22 AM YouTube (GOOG) is about to introduce its rumored subscription service for individual channels, perhaps as soon as this week, the FT reports. Up to 50 channels will reportedly be supported, and individual channels could start at $1.99/month. Some cable/satellite channel owners are said to be interested in using the service to monetize "older shows and new programming" (there could be blowback from pay-TV providers, but YouTube's reach could still make it worthwhile). YouTube has already been seeing its ad sales and engagement soar thanks to a stronger emphasis on professional content. (AdAge report) Read comments
