GOOG,FB: 1B people will be using Android (GOOG) phones...

11:17 AM 1B people will be using Android (GOOG) phones within 6-9 months, and 2B within a year or two as sub-$100 devices arrive, promises Eric Schmidt; there are currently 750M Android phones in use, and 1.5M device activations/day (up from 1.3M/day in September). Schmidt also promises upcoming Motorola phones (previous) will be "very, very impressive," but provides no details. Officially at least, Schmidt considers Facebook Home (FB) "fantastic," due to how it demonstrates Android's openness, and says Google won't try to ban it. Read comments
