Back in the halcyon days of the technology bubble, it wasn't unusual to see a company that had anything to do with technology or the internet to carry a ridiculous valuation multiple. Price-to-earnings ratios in the triple digits were far from unusual as investors bid prices up based on potential instead of anything real or tangible.
