LinkedIn - There's Nowhere To Go But Down From Here
by Mark Kowalski

LinkedIn (LNKD) shattered analyst expectations, posting an impressive 21% increase in revenue over the third quarter to a total of $304 M on a total user base of 202 M professionals. Even more impressively, LinkedIn generated a heavily anticipated strong profit of $11.5 M on these revenues for a 400% increase on Q3. But is this earnings and revenues growth enough to justify its valuation, let alone the spike in share price this news is going to cause? read more »

GOOG,FB: A federal appeals court is scheduled to hear...

6:11 AM A federal appeals court is scheduled to hear arguments today over when software is patentable. On the one side, tech giants such as Google (GOOG) and Facebook (FB) reckon the patent office has been to generous with its awarding of patents - no irony intended. On the other side, IBM (IBM) and a collection of other tech companies and patent trolls argue that tightening up the standards will harm innovation. The case itself is between CLS Bank and Australian firm Alice Corp. Read comments

GOOG: Google Now: Trading Your Privacy For The Future

Google Now: Trading Your Privacy For The Future
by Matt Cilderman

If you surveyed a few people on the street and asked them what Google Inc. (GOOG) does, most people would say "search" and maybe a few others would talk about their other really cool, free services like Chrome, Gmail, Google Maps, Docs, or Plus. As investors, we know better: Google generates almost all of its revenue through advertising related income. However, in order to maintain its search dominance and keep selling advertising effectively, it needs to keep offering great, free services that help people organize their lives and make sense of the vast amount of data that we are drowning in. And it needs to keep indexing new information. read more »
