AOL: AOL's Patch unit is "pivoting away from a...

5:30 PM AOL's Patch unit is "pivoting away from a human editor centric model, toward one where local sites ("Patches") are built to be content-sharing and community-organizing tools," BI reports. Though AOL posted decent online ad growth in Q4, Patch, which carried out layoffs earlier in 2012, remains a weak spot. On the Q4 call, CEO Tim Armstrong claimed Patch saw "record traffic growth" in Q4, but admitted it failed to reach AOL's $40M-$50M revenue target. AOL still promises a profit for the unit by the end of 2013. Read comments
